Lisa Swartzendruber is a writer and mom who believes even the smallest hearts can hold great hope. After walking through her own seasons of loss, she began writing stories to help families talk about grief with gentle honesty. Lisa lives in Idaho with her husband, children, and their dog, sharing stories of love, hope, and healing through her “Bound by Hope” books.
BEHIND THE BOOK
This story was born out of desperate connection. Sitting in our car with our children and they asked me for a story as we often do, and this story poured out of my mouth like it’s been written in my heart and my longing for our son that passed in pregnancy. He was our first son after three daughters and our dreams of him were just beginning. When we lost him, we all lost a small piece of ourselves. We miss him and remember him often and this story was just part of that grief healing we all share together. As I shared the story that day, my eldest daughter reached the end of her seat and had happy tears fill her eyes and they all at once shouted his name! He was the story, he’s always our story. My husband encouraged me to write it all down just as I had said it that day in the car. And that is how this story came to be. I hope anyone who reads it can know that they too can sit and dream of the love they carry in their hearts.
